Meet the Artist
Kat Joslin is a native of Northern California where she currently lives with her four children.
Graduating from U.C. Berkeley with a degree in Peace and Conflict Studies and concentrating in International Human Rights and Conflict Resolution, she is now slowly pursuing a PsyD in clinical psychology.
She has devoted her recent years to honoring the balance of motherhood with her pursuit of becoming a successful artist. Growing up in a household that revolved around art - with an impressionist grandmother teaching her how to paint from a young age and an art-history-buff mother homeschooling her - she always felt a strong calling to pursue a career as an artist. Her journey to become a professional artist has been a quiet, slow journey of self-exploration and determination.
As an emerging artist, she blends her insatiable curiosity for the hidden worlds around us with her love for the outdoors, mental health, and psychology within her paintings. Utilizing symbolism and strong contrasts of light and shadows, her pieces evoke a wanderlust and a call to something deeper inside of us — the search for meaning and truth.
Throughout her work resonate themes of hope, revelation, and our connection to nature. Recurring elements that maker her style unique are her multiple light sources that often cast an uplit glow, portals and folds in space leading to other dimensions, floating spheres, and colorful roots and wires that thread through the landscape, connecting dimensions together.
She hopes her art brings a sense of peace and wonder about the universe and our place in it. Amid the chaos of an often-seeming dark world, she chooses to focus her artwork on the beauty and connection we all share, painting light and bringing realms to life that offer a rejuvenating retreat.
